It seems very unfair that just because a person decides to live in another country on his or her retirement other than the United Kingdom is not entitled to war losses. When one considers that houses met have been built for ex-British soldiers and their families of World war 2 at reasonable rent etc. in Dublin and District, I dont think I am asking too much, if some kind of compensation would be considered, as when I bought my home I was hoping that my appli- cation for war losses compensation would be granted, now I am informed after purchasing home that I am not entitled to any compensation as I am domiciled in Eire. I am a British subject by birth born in Edinburgh, Scotland of Irish parents and have a British passport.

I thought it better to bring this matter to your notice first in order that you would kindly assist me through your kind office as British representative in Eire and see your way to bring my case to the notice of the Hon.sec. of State for Colonies that he may consider my case for some war losses compensation which would assist me to pay off part of loan.

As I have been pensioned off on medical ground @ through bad health incurred while prisoner of war I am unable to take up any employment unless a spare time Jon of a light nature.

Thanking you for your kind attention in this matter.

I Remain,·

Kespectfully your obedient Servant,

(8gd) M.P.Rodgers.

(Ex-Inspector Hong Kong Police Force)

To His Excellency

The British High Commissioner,

Bublin,

Eire.
